Even if you are lucky enough to have an ocean view of your favorite break, it is always nice to know what to expect in the upcoming days or weeks. Below I have listed my personal favorite Surf Forecast and Surfcam websites from the areas I have lived. I have included my top website for long term projections followed by the best method for checking the daily conditions for each location. Southern Californiawww.spitcast.com - Spitcast is a very easy to read and use Surf Forecast for all of California. This is the main site I checked while living in Southern Cal to keep track of what to expect in the coming days. It's free and very accurate to the actual conditions at each break.
www.surfline.com - Surfline is great for getting the daily conditions when deciding if you want to head out. They have a wide selection of surfcams in all major surf spots in the world. Look for a cam near your local break and enjoy. They offer both a free and paid version of their site. I found that the free version was fine for checking the surf as long as you don't mind reloading their cam and only getting a short term outlook. Both of these sites can be used for Northern California as well, I just included Southern California since I used these daily while there and can vouch for their quality and accuracy. Galvestonwww.swellinfo.com - Swellinfo is another easy to read and free Surf Forecast for Galveston and the Americas. I've found that their charts are most useful for easy look aheads. They are not always accurate on conditions and size, but they are great for getting a general idea of whats in store for the week. When used in combination with G-Town Surf you'll be on top of the Gulf.www.gtownsurf.com - G-town surf is the spot for checking the daily conditions in Galveston. They post new pictures and description everyday regardless of conditions. They also have a brief forecast towards the bottom of the page that is better for timing the fronts and swells than swellinfo. And they also just added a webcam that updates every so often.
