Surfing Tricks
Surfing Tricks bring the excitement and thrill to an already joyous sport. We will not be covering tube riding as it is essentially dropping in late or slowing down to get tucked in. Everything else from airs to hanging ten will be covered on the relevant pages.
Unfortunately videos will be coming later as I haven’t had a chance to film myself or any friends yet. I will definitely get them on here asap though as they allow you to really see what it should look like and a little of the foot and body work involved.
While all tricks really bring life into your surfing I prefer the tricks that really add that stylish touch to your maneuvers. I’m talking about hanging ten and the beautiful, long ,drawn out carves and cut-backs. All of which will be covered in the links below.
Surfing Tricks have definitely come a long way since surfing progressed. New board designs and skateboard maneuvers allowed surfers to add to their repertoire and really advance the sport. The harsh cutbacks and aerials would not have been possible on the longboards or Polynesians planks of yesteryear.
All the tricks below will require a good bit of speed to capture the full effect. To get maximum speed head up to the top of the wave and quickly drop down the face for maximum acceleration and trick setup for any of the following.
While I can’t guarantee any contest wins I can definitely guarantee that if you master these maneuvers you will catch a few eyes and definitely boost your scores.
Hang Ten and 5 over – Bring the flair and style while you taste the cool sea breeze
Cutbacks – The core of any good surfer’s repertoire from longboarding to shortboarding
Airs & Floaters – The true competition killers along with tube rides
Kickflips – A little late for the Volcom $20k but still worth a try
