Surf Wax …Seriously???

I’m a little ashamed that I have to have a page about surf wax on my website but apparently some of you don’t know how to pick the right wax and properly wax your surfboards anymore.

Alright guys say it with me. It’s simple, buy the wax to match the water temperature where you are or where you’re going. It really couldn’t be any easier. Take your choice between Sticky Bumps, Sex Wax, and Mrs. Palmers.

Sticky Bumps and Mrs. Palmers are going to give you the most stick, while Sex Wax will stay on your board the longest and definitely give you enough grip for any wave or maneuver. You can also find glow in the dark for those killer night sessions I know you are all planning.

Now for applying, start with any base coat. They are all the same. Go up and down the length of where you will be riding applying mild pressure and going diagonally across the board. Criss-cross the pattern so that when you apply the real wax it will be able to stick. You should do this until you clear out the bar of your arm burns like fire.

Next, pull out your favorite wax and rub in continuous circles applying slightly less pressure than the base coat and do this until the bumps are at the height you desire. Some people like to apply a little sand on top of their wax once they get to the beach. This pays homage to surfers of old and also gives you a little extra gritty grip on your board. It will also help prevent melting a little.

Alright guys, that’s it. Please get this stuff right so I or someone else don’t have to write another page on how to pick out and apply your favorite wax.
